The Florida Panthers hold the first overall selection and could make Aaron Ekblad the top pick.
The 2014 NHL Draft will be held in Philadelphia on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28. Round 1 goes off at 7 p.m. ET on the 27th from the Wells Fargo Center, home of the Philadelphia Flyers. Rounds 2 through 7 will take place the following day, the 28th, beginning at 10 a.m. ET.

NHL Draft
It's really a giant lottery ticket
Once you get past the top picks, the NHL Draft becomes a giant lottery ticket. The best way to win is to give yourself the most chances.
Aaron Ekblad of the OHL's Barrie Colts is expected to go No. 1 overall. The big defenseman is by all accounts NHL ready, and other teams from around the league are definitely interested in acquiring the pick from the Florida Panthers in order to select Ekblad. A group of forwards will likely round out the top five: Leon Draisaitl, Sam Bennett, Sam Reinhart and Michael Dal Colle.
Florida, Buffalo, Edmonton, Calgary and the New York Islanders hold the top five picks, barring any trade movement. The host Philadelphia Flyers hold the 17th overall pick. It's the first time the city has hosted the Draft.
