Sherman earned the right to say what he wants with two interceptions and a win on Thanksgiving.
The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 19-3 on Thanksgiving at Levi's Stadium. The win was dominating and punctuated by two Richard Sherman interceptions, a feat which would obviously produce a few quotes from the Stanford-educated cornerback.
Sherman, who made plenty of headlines in January with an interesting interview following the NFC Championship Game, had more to say about the 49ers and a little something for wide receiver Michael Crabtree on Thursday night, per Terry Blount of ESPN. Sherman also took other shots, coming after the 49ers' fan base and Colin Kaepernick's night.
"There was an opponent [Kaepernick] who said he would throw it to the open man. He didn’t care who was out there [in coverage]. I was the open man."
Sherman not only had two fairly easy interceptions but had his hands on another he could not reel in. Kaepernick was brutal on Thursday, drawing audible groans from the crowd with his 16-of-29 showing for 121 yards and two picks.
Before long, Sherman actually stopped to give credit but with a dig thrown in at Crabtree.
"I have respect for their receivers," Sherman said. "Stevie [Johnson] is very talented. Anquan [Boldin] has been a terror in this league for a while. Brandon Lloyd as well. Obviously, you guys know I’m minus one."
Finally, Sherman took one last jab at the fine people of San Francisco.
"Somebody threw a glass bottle at the end," Sherman said. "Every time we came through the tunnel, there were a lot of vulgar things being said. Sometimes you should let sleeping dogs lie. It makes you appreciate your own fans and how they stay for the whole game regardless of the outcome."
Sherman must have felt scorned by the fans after showing them so much love throughout the contest.
The two teams will meet again in two weeks, this time at Seattle's CenturyLink Field. At 8-4, the Seahawks are currently sixth in the NFC playoff picture while the 49ers are 7-5 and on the outside looking in.
