Chris Johnson is eager to get started with his new team, saying that he expects to start and "have a big role" against the Raiders in the Jets' season opener.

New York Jets running back Chris Johnson is expecting big things in his season debut on Sunday. Johnson says that he expects to start against the Oakland Raiders, and while he's not sure how the carries will be divided up, he's certain that he will play a big part. Via ESPN:

"At the end of the day, they wouldn't have brought me in here if I wasn't going to have a big role, if I wasn't going to be a big part of this offense," Johnson said Wednesday. "That's something I'm not worried about. I'm not worried about my role and how it's going to play out. As a free agent, they could've chosen a lot of different guys. They already had some guys in here that had some success. They weren't going to bring me in here for no reason."

Johnson signed with the Jets after an up-and-down career with the Tennessee Titans. He's expected to split time with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell, but the Jets have all three listed as co-starters, indicating that it could be a true timeshare. Last season, Johnson rushed for 1,077 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns.

Fantasy impact: One of the biggest enigmas in all of fantasy football, it's nearly impossible to predict what Johnson will do from week to week. Despite reaching 1,000 rushing yards for the sixth straight year, he had only two games above 100, and failed to reach 40 yards five times.

Now motivated to impress his new team, Johnson might be worth a flex play against the Raiders defense, but he's not someone you can count on every week. The Jets will probably run a pure 50-50 committee until someone separates himself. Look for Ivory to vulture goal line carries.
