The two receivers accounted for Buffalo's touchdowns in the game. We break down the fantasy implications.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams had his first big game in Buffalo Sunday, while his teammate, rookie Sammy Watkins, had his second decent one. The two both found the end zone in the Bills' 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans.
Williams had only two catches in the game, but one was an 80-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He had 84 yards in the game after only 50 yards through the season's first three games. Watkins, meanwhile, had four catches for 30 yards and a score, reaching the end zone on a 5-yard catch in the second quarter that at the time put Buffalo ahead 10-0.
Fantasy impact: The biggest takeaway for the Buffalo offense in Sunday's game was the discrepancy between targets and receptions. Williams was targeted six times, catching two. Watkins was targeted nine, with four receptions. Robert Woods caught three of 12 targets. Scott Chandler, two of five. The only pass catchers who brought in more than half of their targets were running backs Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller and Frank Summers.
What that means is that Bills quarterback EJ Manuel is still struggling with his accuracy, and those struggles will likely continue to render his receiving options less helpful in fantasy.
