Chris Johnson salvaged an otherwise disappointing Week 4 performance by finding the end zone. We take a look at the fantasy implications.
Chris Johnson salvaged an otherwise disappointing performance on Sunday with one play. Johnson finished with six carries for 44 yards and a touchdown in Week 4. He added two receptions for 17 yards to his stat line.
While those numbers don't appear terrible, it's worth noting that 35 of Johnson's rushing yards happened on one play. Johnson's 35-yard touchdown saved him from an abysmal 5-9-0 stat line. Chris Ivory, meanwhile, had 17 carries for 84 yards and added another 16 yards in in the receiving game. Ivory is establishing himself as the favored back on the Jets roster.
Fantasy impact: Johnson is being eclipsed by Ivory at this point in the season. It's hard to envision Johnson not seeing at least 5-10 opportunities for touches each game, but he isn't delivering explosive playmaking enough to trust him with those touches. He's a low-end flex option in standard leagues with minimal upside in PPR leagues.
