The Chargers' breakout receiver is on the injury report this week, but should be fine for Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen showed up on the injury report this week with a rib issue. He is listed as a full participant in practice, though, and is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.
It's the first time Allen has been mentioned in injury reports and the Chargers don't seem overly concerned, so it seems to be a minor issue. Allen emerged as a new star receiver in his rookie year, recording 71 catches for 1,046 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games.
Fantasy impact: The Cardinals have two more practices before they release their final injury report on Saturday. If Allen is still a full participant by then fantasy owners can lock him into their lineups. He will have a tough matchup this week against Patrick Peterson and the Cardinals defense, but Allen has legitimate WR1 upside and should be started every week. His production was a big part of Philip Rivers' career revival in 2013, and the two are expected to hook up early and often once again.
