Cecil Shorts (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts did not practice on Thursday due to hamstring tightness. He was held out as a precaution, but the injury has bothered him since the first day of training camp. Shorts was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain back on July 27, and has since returned to preseason action. He'll be in the lineup on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Shorts did have some hamstring woes back in December 2013, so there is some added concern about future aggravations during the season. The Jaguars drafted Marqise Lee and have seen undrafted free agent Allen Hurns step up in the preseason. Both are expected to be noticeable parts of the offense even while Shorts is healthy.
Fantasy impact: If you drafted Shorts, you probably picked him up fairly late, and hopefully he's not a top-three receiver on your team. However, rookie quarterback Blake Bortles has looked tremendous in the preseason. The Jaguars should move the ball a little more after a woeful 2013, so it's possible for Shorts to return to his stellar 2012 ways. Shorts is a low-end flex in a PPR league this week, and Lee is a solid high-upside stash in 12- and 14-team leagues.
