One of the best quarterbacks in football is expected to have even more control over Green Bay's offense. We break down the fantasy implications.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is already one of football's best signal-callers, and he's expected to get even more freedom this season. According to Ian Rapoport, Rodgers will have "more control than ever"in Thursday's season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers are expected to run more no-huddle offense ans move at a faster pace.
Rodgers missed seven games with a broken collarbone last year, but he's back at 100 percent for 2014. In the nine games he played, Rodgers completed 66.6 percent of his passes for 2,536 yards, 17 touchdowns and just six interceptions, coming back late in the season to lead Green Bay to a divisional title.
Fantasy impact: You don't need our advice to say that Rodgers is a top-three quarterback, but this news is yet another vote of confidence from Mike McCarthy.. Rodgers has a tough matchup against Seattle's defense, but if there's one rule to follow for Week 1, it's to never sit your studs. Getting cold feet and over-thinking things is an easy way to find yourself in a hole early in the season. Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are all must-starts on Thursday night.
