Jordan Reed practiced on Thursday. We break down the fantasy implications.
Washington tight end Jordan Reed (thumb) practiced on Thursday in full and is expected to play against the Houston Texans. He put in a full practice on Wednesday and his sprained thumb injury is a very minor issue.
Reed was tremendous is spots of last season with a massive 134-yard, one-score game vs. the Bears on Oct. 20 and an eight-catch, 90-yard game vs. the Denver Broncos on Oct. 27. Unfortunately, a concussion in November ended his rookie season just when he had gathered some consistency.
He has a new offensive system which figures to have a lot of passing. Reed has shown he's a capable slot receiver and the team even lined him up on the outside despite his lack of experience.
Fantasy impact: There is some serious upside with Reed this year. He has become a security blanket for quarterback Robert Griffin III and he'll get plenty of chances to catch balls in the red zone all year long. Fantasy owners should consider him as a fairly strong start against a horrific Texans secondary. Plus, the improved Houston pass rush may cause Griffin to go to his hot receiver, which will likely be Reed quite often.
