Mets pitcher Matt Harvey made news on Thursday night and it had nothing to do with him on a pitcher's mound. Harvey is in New York, taking in Derek Jeter's final home game at Yankee Stadium.

It should be noted that Harvey's team, the Mets, is in Washington, D.C., playing the Nationals. He is not with them. Then again, Harvey has been on the disabled list all season following Tommy John surgery last October. Reaction was rather swift.

This isn't the first time the lure of Jeter has brought an injured All-Star to Yankee Stadium. Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki -- on the disabled list at the time and, like Harvey, now out for the year -- caused a bit of a stir in July taking in a game in New York while Colorado was elsewhere.

It is worth noting that while Harvey and the Mets have been at odds at times over his rehab from surgery, he has been with the team at home and rehabilitating at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., when the team is on the road. That is, at least until he was shut down for the season earlier in September.
