Odell Beckham's hamstring injury will keep him out for another few weeks. We break down the fantasy implications.
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham is not close to returning any time soon. Beckham is not practicing this week and will not play in Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions.
Beckham missed the entire training camp and preseason with a hamstring injury, one he first suffered in spring OTAs. Head coach Tom Coughlin has no concrete updates on his status, only saying that he's another 2-3 weeks away. The Giants selected Beckham with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Fantasy impact: Beckham was pegged as one of the top rookie receivers in fantasy, with the original idea that he would compete with Rueben Randle for the No. 2 job and contribute on special teams. Those plans are obviously out the window now after Beckham missed so many valuable reps, although he'll be someone to watch on the waiver wire if he ever gets healthy. In the meantime, Randle has the talent to be a WR3, but carries risk with New York's offense looking dysfunctional in preseason.
