San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates is probable for Week 4. We break down the fantasy implications.
San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (hamstring) is listed as probable and will play in the team's Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gates practiced in full on Thursday and Friday.
Fantasy Impact: Gates has been able to stay healthy so far and has translated into solid ROI for owners who drafted him in the last couple rounds. While no one should expect another three-touchdown performance anytime soon, Gates has provided owners with solid points in two of his three games thus far. More importantly, his role will not be reduced enough to the point where backup and freak athlete Ladarius Green is likely to become a major contributor.
Green is listed as questionable this week and appears more likely to miss the game. That leaves Gates in a great spot as one of the top receiving options for quarterback Philip Rivers going up against a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that gives up the second-most points to opposing tight ends. Gates is a solid TE1 for Week 4.
